Sea moss gel is a versatile superfood that’s incredibly easy to make at home. With its natural thickening properties and nutrient-rich profile, it’s the perfect addition to smoothies, teas, soups, and even skincare routines! Here’s how to make your own fresh sea moss gel using St. Lucia dried sea moss.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of dried sea moss (St. Lucia dried sea moss is a great choice)
  • 4–5 cups of filtered water (for soaking and blending)

Instructions:

  1. Rinse and Clean the Sea Moss:
    • Start by thoroughly rinsing the dried sea moss under cool water to remove any sand, salt, or debris. It’s natural to see a bit of sediment, so rinse until the water runs clear.
  2. Soak the Sea Moss:
    • Place the cleaned sea moss in a large bowl and cover it with fresh filtered water. Allow it to soak for 12–24 hours. During this time, it will expand and become soft, with a slightly slippery texture.
  3. Blend the Sea Moss:
    • After soaking, drain and discard the soaking water. Place the softened sea moss in a blender, adding 2–3 cups of fresh filtered water. Blend until the sea moss becomes a smooth, creamy gel. (For a thinner gel, simply add a bit more water until you reach your desired consistency.)
  4. Store the Gel:
    • Transfer your sea moss gel into a clean, airtight container or glass jar. Refrigerate for up to 2–3 weeks.
  5. Using Your Sea Moss Gel:

Add a spoonful to smoothies, soups, and juices for an extra boost of nutrients! You can also use it as a thickening agent for sauces and dressings or apply it as a skin mask to hydrate and nourish your skin.
